1 Begin by decorating the base of the bottom and top tier. Roll out a long strip of white paste, lightly dust the work surface and the lace embosser with cornflour. Press the embosser firmly onto the paste and repeat the design.

2 Place the cutter into the outside embossed design and press to cut the lace to shape. Repeat along the full length of the lace. Trim the bottom edge with a knife.

3 Place the lace onto a piece of kitchen paper. Use a wide flat brush to lightly dust the surface with the gold powder.

4 Paint the board of the cake with gum glue and gently roll up the paste before unrolling it around the cake. As cake is divided into six sections it is easy to hide any joins you may make
